Talented Sickness

Today June 17th (Sunday) at Sai Kun Bamboo Theater around 3:30pm,  my friend Amy and I will be performing our piece "Talented Sickness".  We decided to join this Annual Dance Collage Carnival and experiment our dancing paint idea!  It was a challenging process. First of all, the method gets super messy, cannot expect what will happen with paint the next moment, and yeah.... How do we paint and move?  Ok, result of our work in progress performance will be shown in Sai Kun open area. :)

G Hoffman Soto

The Performance Lab presents Self Portrait Process explores individual and collective creativity through a strong movement base, voice and language. Much of the work is based in improvisation and developing material that comes out of the improvisation process through recycling and reworking materials. However, The Self Portrait Process will stem from movement exploration & drawings of body part(s). Form that body part, the self is creatively represented through exploration and creative expressions.
Students are encouraged to bring to the Lab their personal stories and myths as a vehicle to share and enlighten themselves, and others. Ultimately, each body part and the stories which give rise to self will be woven into mini performance known as the self portrait. The Self Portrait Process is a intimate reflective journey to getting to know our selves better and our own humanness through a creative process.

Self Portrait Process

I took a workshop called Self Portrait Process by G Hoffman Soto. There were about 18 participants. It was a nice time where I could focus on breathing and 'being in the moment'. It was such a wonderful time to meet other performers and artists. So inspiring... Again, I learned how to be honest with my work and be comfortable with who I am.

Headshots

It was time for me to update my head-shot.  I had been using my old ones, which I took in New York about 3 years ago~!  My talented friend Nell took my photos, she claims its her hobby,  but she is a professional!

Infinity

This experimental project was an improv collaboration between three artists. Our friend Paul Thompson made some awesome experimental music using everyday sounds around the house and around the city mixed with instruments and electric sounds.  Together with my illustrator friend Emily Eldridge, we created a purely spontaneous action painting!! There were no strict rules other than following our impulse in the moment. The music lasted about 15 minutes.  The title of the piece was "Birth and Death".  It was an awesome journey to make my mind free.  I tend to over analyze when I create an art work. My own judgement stops me from creating a work.  Now I know anything is possible....

Making.
Learning.
Listening.
Feeling.
Being.

It was FUN !! ;)
